The next meeting for SDA-IL will be Friday August 22, 2014 at Barbara Schneider's studio at 1pm

Hi all!

You are invited Friday August 22, 2014 to Barbara Schneider's studio at The Starline Gallery in Harvard, IL at 1 pm (address should be in SDA constant contact email that went out today). Please bring something to share for a potluck. Barbara will have coffee, ice tea, hot tea and bottled water.

We will hold a combined SAQA/SDA meeting. We will have the SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) traveling trunk show as well as the SDA (Surface Design Association) Swatch Library available for viewing. This is a great opportunity to see at least 50 small quilts made with various techniques and also to see the many varieties of surface design techniques on the 12 x 12 fabric swatches. In addition to the meeting we will have show and tell and food. Harvard is approximately 60 miles northwest of Chicago and 10 miles south of Walworth at the west end of Lake Geneva. For those driving from the east and south you can take the northwest toll way to Rt. 47, go north 15 miles to Woodstock, and then west again to Harvard (about 15 miles).  For those who might like to take the train the Metra line is the Union Pacific Northwest Line to Harvard. You can look up the schedule. The train stops right outside the studio building.

In addition to our meeting at the Starline that day, you might want to consider these additional options:

1. A 15 minute drive up to Lake Geneva area for fun and frolic

2. Staying on (or coming back from Lake Geneva) for The Starline’ 4th Friday event. This is a great opportunity to see several open artist studios, see 1-2 juried art exhibits, a photo exhibit, hear live music, eat appetizers and generally have a fun time from 6-9 pm for $5!

3. Right next door to the Starline building is Steelheart , which stays open on 4th Friday nights. It is a huge space filled with all kinds of steel and wire ornamental stuff for your home and garden. And also just another interesting building to poke around in.

Please RSVP to Barbara Schneider (her email is in the SDA constant contact email that was sent out today) or myself to let her know if you can come so she can get a count on food, chairs and things like that. You can also reply via comment or on the SDA-IL facebook page.
