July 2014 Meeting for SDA-IL

The Next Meeting for SDA-IL Will Be Sunday July 20, 2014 at the Urban Thread Studio at 11am.

Hi all! I just wanted to invite everybody to our next meeting which will be held in Chicago at the Urban Thread Studio which is on the fifth floor of the Bridgeport Art Center on Sunday July 20th, 2014 at 11:00am.
Urban Thread Studio “...is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to teach creative problem solving through textile arts in a nurturing and community-building environment”. The Bridgeport Art Center is located at 1200 West 35th Street in Chicago and the studio can be a bit tricky to get to. There is ample parking on the north side of the building by 34th Street and Racine. The studio itself is located on the 5th floor of the Fashion Design Center. Entrance to the Fashion Design Center is on Racine Ave, the east side of the building, just next to the furniture store, Coyle & Herr.  Once you see the intercom box by the entrance door, press key Star (*) 5405 and you will be buzzed in. Take the elevator to Floor 5 and as you exit make a left until the end and then a right until you get to studio 5405.
Please come out and explore Urban Thread Studio as well as enjoy good conversation, the latest SDA news, show & tell, and of course snacks. Make sure you bring some of your artwork (finished or unfinished) for show & tell and a snack to share as the meetings are potluck. As usual this should be a lot of fun. Please let me know that you are coming via email or in the comments section of the blog (or on our face book page).

More news on From the Inside Out

Elizabeth Adams-Marks and I are pleased as punch to announce we've won an SDA Small Events Grant of $500 to help fund our international exhibition From the Inside Out.

All of the artists involved are members of SDA and we are grateful for the support of the organization.
