Hi all!
I just wanted to remind everybody that our next meeting will be held in Chicago Heights, IL at the Union Street Gallery on Saturday December 7th at 11:00am. It is a very lovely gallery and collective artists studio space in a landmark historical building (they also have a wonderful gift shop too!). Please come out and enjoy food, conversation, and the gallery. Make sure you bring some of your artwork (finished or unfinished) for show and tell. Also, please bring a dish to share as this will be potluck. This should be a lot of fun and for sure a visual feast. Also, you can find more information about Union Street Galleries here.

Deadline For Exhibition "Always Something..." Extended to August 5th 2013 Midnight
SDA-IL Sponsored Call For Artist has been extended to August 5th 2013 Midnight (open to Midwest SDA members)
Midwest SDA Exhibition September 2013: Always Something…
Exhibit Concept: The intention of this exhibit is to illustrate reactions when things don’t go our way. A journey stalled by a red light, construction that blocks our path; a bridge goes up and halts our progress. One thing leads to another… Perhaps these moments allow for us to notice something unexpected, a mother and child holding hands, a sunlit tree reveals magic, we hear the sweet music of a songbird. Life is motion, each unexpected change allows for an opportunity to see our world anew and alter our perspective.
Exhibition will be held at The Vogt Visual Arts Center (http://www.tinleyparkdistrict.org/Parks-Facilities/vogt-visual-arts-center.htm) in Tinley Park, IL September 3rd through the 26th.

Changes and Congratulations!
Jeanette Thompson who has been our wonderful Illinois representative for the last couple of years has accepted a board position within the SDA and so has stepped down as the Illinois representative. Frances Krueger-Jackson who administrates the Illinois chapter's blog has accepted the position as the new Illinois representative. Don't worry, we will continue to see Jeanette often. She plans to continue to be very involved in the Illinois chapter. Congratulations to them both!

Filming Quilting Arts TV program
I just came back from filming 3 segments with Pokey Bolton for the
Quilting Arts TV program on PBS. The show will air this fall on PBS. It
was a really fun expereince, once I got there and got started. I did a
segment on my Reflection quilts, a segment on the three dimensional
shaping (using the leaves) and one on digital printing through an online
printer. My car was FULL with proejcts coming and going. It filmed in
Cleveland and that was long ride under the threat of the big snowstorm
last weekend.
Hope to have images to show at some point here.
