At a private garden in Madison County, Illinois (about 10 miles from SIUE gallery)

This workshop was full, but we've had 3 cancellations recently so are advertising again. You can register for this workshop through Pat Vivod.

Fabienne is from The Netherlands, is a self taught artist who learned eco printing from India Flint. She has developed her work over several years and has taught several workshops. This will be her first time to teach in the US.  Fabienne will give an artist talk at the SIUE gallery on Thursday, September 18, the day before her workshop begins. We would urge anyone coming for the workshop to include the chance to see the exhibition and hear Fabienne at the gallery.

If you are interested in either workshop please write Pat Vivod for complete workshop packets and materials lists at

It might be wise to register at SIUE first for Rio's class, then contact Pat for a packet.

Regardless of whether you can join us for one of the workshops you are all cordially invited to see the exhibition.  Visit our blog for the latest news and read profiles on all the artists.  The exhibition is free and open to the public.  Call SIUE for regular gallery hours:  (618) 650-3073.

Next Meeting for SDA-IL Will Be June 15 2014

Hi all! I just wanted to invite everybody to our next meeting which will be held in Chicago at the home and studio of Akemi Cohn on Saturday Sunday June 15th, 2014 at 11:00am. Akemi is a Chicago fiber artist who works with many fibers and techniques including shibori, dyeing, katazome, embroidery, felting, and other surface design and fabric construction techniques. Akemi also teaches at many different Art Centers in the Chicagoland area and teaches workshops all over the United States (and has taught workshops in other countries as well). Once again please come out and enjoy good conversation, the latest SDA news, show & tell, and of course snacks. We will also be talking about the most recent show opportunities for Illinois SDA members including the SDA-IL sponsored show in Park Ridge IL, “Transparent, Translucent, Transformed” and the “The Exquisite Uterus” Exhibition which will be explained in further detail by Jeanette Thompson an Illinois SDA board member (and our past rep). Make sure you bring some of your artwork (finished or unfinished) for show & tell and a snack to share as the meetings are potluck. As usual this should be a lot of fun. If you have any questions please feel free to comment or email me. you should be getting a global email with all the details soon. :)
Thank you,
Frances

6/9/14 Note: I made an error above, the meeting is not Saturday but Sunday June 15th 2014
